Third Mah Finance Commission presents report to Governor

Mumbai, Jun 3 (UNI) Third Maharashtra Finance Commission Chairman Satish Tripathi today presented the final report of the commission to state governor S M Krishna.

The commission was constituted by the government in January last year under article 243-I and 243-Y of the Constitution.

The finance commission is to make recommendations on allocation of resources to Panchayat Raj institutions and municipal bodies after studying their financial position, with a view to strengthen them, keeping in mind the overall resource position and other commitments of the state government.

Commission members Jeevanrao Gore, Pradeep Apte and Sudhir Srivastava were also present in Raj Bhawan on the occasion.
