Kolkata, June 2(UNI) West Bengal Minority Council today condemned the planned massacre of the Rashtriya Sevak Sangha Headquarters in Nagpur by a terrorist outfit, which was timely thawrted by the intervention of police and security personnel.

Council President Shahanshah Jehangir said, "The terrorists were shot dead in an encounter with the security personnel, when they were trying to cross the barrier at the entrance of the RSS Headquarters." He said, "the terrorist outfit had selected the venue as its target since the institution represented the socio-cultural enigma of Hinduism in India and any attack on such installation could have caused severe damage to the communal harmony and social tapestry of our lives." "Therefore the security personnel have done a very commendable job by intercepting such barbaric and ill motivated attack. However, it would have been better if the said terrorists could have been captured alive, which could have helped the administration to collect more vital information about the terrorists' network in India," he said.

"If we closely observe the past incidents where the terrorists have targetted institutions or temples of national importance like Parliament, Alkshardham Temple in Gujarat and Ayodhya, we will see that in all the cases the terrorists have been shot dead leaving lot of grey areas to fathom their motives or identity," he added.
