Skipper Mongia feeling the heat, Leicestershire struggle
London, June 3 (UNI) Captaining Leicestershire in absence of injured Jeremy Snape, Dinesh Mongia seemed under pressure and the Punjab southpaw scored 26 as his side found itself cornered in the County Championship Division Two match against Northamptonshire at Oakham School.
After Mongia asked them to bat, Northamptonshire scored 331 all out in their first innings with Lance Klusener slamming 122.
In reply, Leicestershire were all out for 294, with John Maunders (78) and Hylton Ackerman (92) leading the charge but it was Klusener's six-wicket haul that rocked the side.
Mongia scored 26 off 48 balls with four hits to the fence and was in fact looking good for a big knock before Klusener removed him.
Northamptonshire, in their second essay, reached 288 for seven to swelll their lead to 325.
Mongia went wicketless in his 11 overs which cost him 27 runs.
In another Division Two match, Zaheer Khan's Worcestershire dominated the proceedings as Vikram Solanki's career-best 201 not out and stumper Steven Davies's unbeaten 129 powered them to 459 for four wickets at Bristol.
