Six extortionists arrested

Surat, June 3 (UNI) Six youths, who tried to extort money from a timber merchant, have been arrested.

According to rural police, the six approached Mr Ramshankar Sheetal Prasad Tiwari, the timber merchant, in Bardoli and told him they will expose his ''illegal deals'' if he did not pay them Rs 51,000.

Mr Tiwari, who has timber business with proper licence, refused to pay money and informed the police about the threat.

Police arrested Bapu Patil, Bablu Patil and Dharmesh Bapu from Bardoli and Kamalesh Pandey, Gaurishankar Mishra and Sikander Malik from Sonagadh yesterday.
