Shinde inaugurates modern load dispatch centre in Panaji

Panaji, June 3 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today inaugurated Goa State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) here, set up by the state electricity department at a cost of Rs eight crore, in collaboration with the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

The SLDC project was executed under the accelerated power development and reform programme (APDRP) under North Goa phase-1 under the new Central Electricity Act.

It will coordinate transmission and distribution of electricity on real time basis to achieve maximum security and efficiency.

It will serve as the nerve centre for the operation, planning, monitoring and control of the power system in the state.

The Centre has so far sanctioned schemes worth Rs 300 crore under the APDRP for Goa. It has funded 25 per cent of the project cost under the scheme.

Apart from the state Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane and his cabinet colleagues and members of Parliament, top officials of the PGCIL and the state electricity department were present at the dedication ceremony.

The project was later dedicated to the people after reviewing the power situation in the state. State Power Minister Digambar Kamat and his team of officials, including Chief Electrical Engineer Nirmal Braganza, were also present on the occasion.
