Rains continue to cool Rajasthan

Jaipur, June 3 (UNI) One person was killed in the state due to lightning while the state capital witnessed pre-monsoon showers for the second day today.

Rains in the early hours led to a consequent fall of seven degrees and the capital recorded 30 degrees Celsius. However, humidity increased as rains stopped in the afternoon.

Many lakes in the state, including Udaipur's 25-feet Jhadol pond, have been filled and it depth now stands at 23 feet.

One Balwant Singh of Jhalawar's Singhania village died due to lightning.

According to the weather office, Jaipur recorded 78.8 mm rainfall in the day, while it was 55 mm in Jhalawar, 43 mm in Rawatbhata, 33 mm in Kota, 27 mm in Dholpur, 15 in Bundi, 8 mm in Bharatpur and Jaisalmer and 7 mm in Jodhpur.

The weather office has predicted rains, accompanied with thunderstorms, in eastern and western parts of the state over the next 24 hours.
