Rahul Mahajan's condition improves, taken off ventilator
New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) The condition of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul, who had been admitted to hospital following what is now believed to be ''drug overdose'', has improved considerably and he was taken off the ventilator today.
His condition had gradually improved in the last 12 hours and he was being weaned away from the ventilator, an Apollo Hospital statement said this morning.
All his vital parameters had improved but he was still under close observation, it added.
His blood pressure, respiration, blood oxygen level and blood sugar level had stabilised.
According to family sources, Rahul had regained consciousness and was also responding though he was slightly drowsy due to heavy medication.
However, report on the cause of his condition was still awaited.
Rahul had been admitted to the ICU of the hospital in an unconscious state while Pramod Mahajan's Secretary Bibek Moitra was declared Dead On Arrival, when they were brought to the hospital early yesterday with suspected poisoning.
A bottle of champagne and a packet of 'white powder', reportedly to be some narcotic substance, was seized from Pramod Mahajan's official residence in Central Delhi where the two of them and four others had 'partied' late on June 1.
