Pramod Mahajan's ashes immersed at Brahmaputra

Guwahati, Jun 3 (UNI) In a twist of irony, late Promod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan landed in New Delhi hospital yesterday instead of starting his political career by immersing the ashes of his late father in the holy Brahmaputra today.

He was supposed to reach Guwahati today to immerse his father's ashes but was wheeled off to Indrapratha Apollo Hospial with suspected consumption of heroin.

A shocked Asom state unit of the BJP did not have any other option but to immerse it.

The entire BJP top brass of the state were present on the occasion, including party state president Indromoni Bora, North East organisational secretary V Satish, Former Union Minister Bijoya Chakravarty and General Secretary Dhruva Baishya.

The immersion was done at the Sulkeshwar ghat.

Asom was the last political battlefield of late Mahajan as he oversaw the entire politics of assembly election where the BJP improved its position.

The BJP state leadership are still mourning Mahajan's death as he gave the party a realistic chance to play the role of the opposition party in a state.
