People rally demanding suitable compensation

Sambalpur, Jun 3 (UNI) Thousands of people from Dhenkanal and Angul districts today took out a rally here demanding suitable compensation for their land to be acquired by the Jindal group for setting up of a Steel and Power plants.

They later submitted a memorandum to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) urging him to ensure that their basic problems, like employment to the locals and adequate care for the protection of the environment, be taken up before the acquisition of land.

The memorandum also suggested that village committees be constituted in every affected village to monitor the peripheral development.

BJP Rajya Sabha Member Rudra Pani who supported the cause of the local people urged the administration to take a pro-people stand while undertaking land acquisition in the two districts.
