NCP is not a refugee camp: spokesman

Raipur, June 3 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party today ruled out the possibility of re-admitting former Union Minister V C Shukla into the party fold.

''Our party is not a refugee camp,'' party spokesman D P Tripathi told newsmen here.

Mr Tripathi said it was not a correct perception that the party had established itself because of any individual. ''We are trying to groom a new party leadership in the state'', he added.

Mr Shukla had left the Congress and joined the NCP a few months before the maiden assembly elections in Chhattisgarh in 2003.

Later, he quit the NCP and floated his own regional outfit, which later merged into the BJP before the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

He resigned from the BJP also and started efforts to return to the Congress fold.
