Maoist rebels kill three villagers

Jamshedpur, Jun 3 (UNI) Close on the heels of killing 12 policemen by blasting landmines in West Singhbhum district on Thursday last, the proscribed CPI(Maoist) outfit killed three more people in Hadian village, under the naxalite hit Gudabandha Police Station, in East Singbhum district of Jharkhand.

Police said the ultras, after dividing themselves in three groups gheraoed three houses of the village and kidnapped Gurucharan Munda, Sukhara Munda and Somrai Munda, all aged between 40-55 years, while they were sleeping.

They took all the three to the nearby hilltop and killed them by slitting their throats, police said.

Police recovered all the bodies this morning and handed over to the family members. Senior police officials, including the district superintendent of police Ashish Barta and deputy commissioner N M Kulkarni rushed to the spot.

They said the naxals killed them to terrorise the villagers as they had launched campaign against the naxalite activities in the area.

Meanwhile, police launched combing operations in the area to nab the ultras.
