Italy captain Cannavaro questioned by magistrates
ROME, Jun 3 (Reuters) Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro took time out of his World Cup preparations to travel to Rome today to be questioned as part of the investigation into soccer management company GEA World.
The defender, who played in Italy's final pre-World Cup friendly against Ukraine in Lausanne on Friday, was due to be questioned by magistrates Maria Cristina Palaia and Luca Palamara, judicial sources said.
Cannavaro's Juventus team mate David Trezeguet is expected to be questioned later on Saturday. Neither is under investigation but both have been called to speak to magistrates as people ''informed of the facts''.
GEA World, which counts more than 200 players and coaches on its books, is under investigation for ''illegal competition with use of threats and violence''.
The company is run by Alessandro Moggi, son of former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi who is at the centre of the allegations of match-fixing in Serie A.
