Complex IT return forms will scare the common man : Goel
New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP leader Viajy Goel today opposed the Finance Ministry's decision to replace Saral forms with a complex four page 2 F form saying it will scare away the tax payers instead of encouraging more people to comply and return their IT statement.
In a statement Mr Goel accused the government of creating more hurdles for the common man who in most cases was a salaried employee with tax deducted at source. The complex new format would only compel the tax payers to take the assistance of Chartered Accountants thereby increasing the cost burden. Even tax payers ranging from peons to clerks and small traders are forced to maintain their records.
Regarding the income from House property, he said the owners are to declare the annual value without deducing taxes paid to local authorities and it did not deal with valuation of self occupied property making it difficult for the tax payers to assess their self occupied property. The efforts of the congress to pose more hurdles to the tax payers will be counter productive and Prime Minister, a well known economist, should advise the Finance Ministry not to resort to complicate things for the common man.
