Apang seeks US cooperation for joint ventures in Arunachal

Itanagar, June 3 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has sought US cooperation in forging joint collaboration to exploit the vast potential of the state.

In a meeting with Public Affairs officer Susan M Shultz (American Center, Kolkata), here yesterday, Chief Minister discussed various avenues where the American Consulate could help or the state could forge joint collaboration in Private Public Partnership (PPP) programmes and UNDP projects.

He also discussed the pivotal role of the Indo-Americans in the US.

Mr Apang gave Ms Shultz a brief account of the education, environment and forestry scenario in the state, saying that he was very impressed with the US in striking a balance between development and environment.

Ms Shultz expressed her government's willingness in joint collaborations with the state government in social sectors like education, science and technology.

She also proposed assistance for capacity building programmes for women and NGOs.
