Another accused in UTI robbery arrested
New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) The Delhi Police today claimed to have made another breakthrough in the sensational UTI bank robbery case with the arrest of a second accused Pawan Gupta.
Co-accused Pawan Gupta who was driving the Maruti Esteem car used in the commission of the Rs 40 crore robbery in UTI bank in Vikaspuri on May 8, was arrested from his hideout at Madhuban Chowk in North Delhi yesterday.
The main accused in the case Sandeep Bhatnagar was arrested on May 28 and Rs 10 lakh, 600 US dollars and the vehicle used for committing the crime was recovered from him. During investigation, Sandeep had disclosed that he along with his associates had planned the robbery and that Pawan gupta was driving the Maruti Esteem during the robbery.
Interrogation of Pawan Gupta revealed that after commission of the crime he had received five lakh rupees as his share after which he left Delhi and kept shifting from one city to another.
Rs 3.50 crore were recovered from the hotel in Agra where he was staying.
