Two NLFT ultras surrender, hideout busted
Agartala, Jun 1 (UNI) Two hardcore rebels belonging to the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) surrendered before the authority while a hideout was busted by the Assam Rifles jawans in the state during the last two days, police today said.
Two hardcore NLFT insurgents surrendered before the Superintendent of police (Inteligence) here and deposited two sophisticated Ak series rifles, four magazines and 140 rounds of ammunition.
Continuous anti-insurgency operations and pressure from security forces, forced the militants to leave the jungle and flee the hideouts and return to the mainstream, police added.
In another incident, the Assam Rifles jawans busted a militant hideout in Dhalai district of the state on Tuesday night and recovered huge arms and ammunition.
The AR jawans, acting on a tip-off, raided a remote village under Ganganagar police station and recovered two 3.3 rifle, five country made guns and gun powder.
The militants, however, realising the security forces presence, managed to escape.
