Top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected in Asom

Guwahati, June 01 (UNI) A major bureaucratic reshuffle was effected by the newly-installed Congress-led government in Asom yesterday.

Additional Chief Secreatry C K Das was released of the Health department and it was given to Principal Secreatary P P Verma. Mr Verma earlier held WPT and BC and Planning and Development. Mr Das retains Revenue and Relief and Rehabilitation.

Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner P R Samal has been transferred as Labour Commissioner.

Hailakandi DC Rajesh Prasad has been appointed GMC Commissioner while his post went to Khadi and Village Industries Board CEO K K Kalita.

Joint Secretary, Home and Political Affairs, A K Absar Hazarika replaces Mr Sanjoy Lohia as Tinsukia DC while the latter has been appointed AACP Project Director.

Nagaon DC J B Ekka has been transferred as the National Rural Health Mission Director. Jorhat ADC J Balaji will be the new Nagaon DC.

Cachar DC G D Tripathy has been given the charge of Joint Secretary, Home and Political Affairs with GAD Joint Secretary Goutam Ganguly being appointed the Cachar DC.

Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Cooperative, S C Panda has been vested the additional charge of GAD.

Transport Commissioner Gayatri Baruah has been appointed as Apex Board Managing Director. Joint Secretary, Health, while Bolendra Kumar Basumatary had earlier been appointed the new Transport Commissioner.
