Security force convoy attacked on Kashmir Highway, tragedy averted

Srinagar, June 1 (UNI) Militants attacked a security force convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway with a grenade this afternoon, but it missed the target and exploded without causing any damage, official sources said.

''Militants hurled a hand grenade towards security force convoy coming from Jammu at Khanabal,'' they said.

In another incident, Security forces and Police today averted a major tragedy on Srinagar-Charar-e-Sharief road when they detected a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militant to target the security forces.

Bomb disposal squad was immediatley summoned to defuse the IED, thus averting a major damage to life and property.
