Retain 30 per cent quota in ITIs: MP

Palakkad, Jun 1 (UNI) N N Krishnadas, MP today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to intervene in restoring the existing reserve quota of 30 per cent in ITI to manufacture materials for MTNL and BSNL.

Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that BSNL top officers were helping a multinational company to enter the market.

He alleged that the American commercial secretary had asked India to stop 30 per cent reservation in ITI. ''It is a matter of great concern that the US is intervening in the policy of Union Government'', he remarked.

He urged the Prime Minister to take up the matter at the Indo-US trade policy review meeting.

Palakkad ITI will loss Rs 220 crores in the wake of not retaining the existing policy, he said.
