Rains bring relief to scorching Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Jun 1 (UNI) Day temperatures dropped sharply here and in the southern parts of Gujrat following arrival of pre-Southwest monsoon.

The first spell of moderate monsoon rains was experienced here in the noon while Surat and Vadadora reported moderate rains last evening and night.

Day temperature dropped to around 37 degrees Celsius from the scorching 42 degrees yesterday. Ahmedabad reported 4.1 mm rainfall till 0830 hrs today.

The weather bureau has forecast one or two spells of rains or thundershowers during the next 24 hours in South Gujarat, Saurashtra and at isolated places over North Gujarat and Kutch.

The rains have claimed one life in Vadodara. One person was electrocuted while another injured in rain-related incidents at Sama locality in Vadodara.
