'Prescription Pad' to ease doctors
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Dr Anil Vij, MD in general medicine, has developed a prescription software for medicos to relieve them of the pain of remembering names of thousands of medicines and help them averting blunders, while treating chronic patients.
''Prescription Pad contains complete prescribing information of more than 15,000 brands of Indian Pharma compiled in such a way that it takes just a minute to understand,'' Dr Vij said at a press conference here today.
The uppermost concern of a good clinician is that the prescibed medicines do not have any kind of drug interactions between them and that they should be safe for the patient under the prevailing conditions.
Prescription Pad has about 55,000 drug interactions in allopathic system and scores of medicines which are harmful in pregnancy, lactation, children and diabetic patients.
''Later in the future we might take this into the international market but right now it is completely India-centric,'' he said, adding that it has been conceived and developed keeping in view the Indian market.
Dr Vij took six years to develop this software and has been using this for the last two years for personal practice.
Prescription Pad contains full monograph of nearly 2,000 generic drugs. The indications, contradictions, precautions, side effects, dosage and mode of action of the drugs have also been described separately in point wise manner.
The data has been compiled from Physician Desk Reference (PDR) of the US, Martindale book of pharmacology, British National pharmacology and from many other companies drug monographs, he added.
''Besides, we are looking forward to develop an administration software which can be implemented in the hospital management system,'' Dr Vij said.
The software is available in three models, a basic software version without the lab module, advanced version and the third version which can be connected directly to the reception, priced at Rs 4000, Rs 5000 and Rs 6000 respectively.
This first of its kind software in India is doing well in the domestic market since its launch in February last year and has so far earned 70 customers comprising individual doctors, he added.
