Pre-monsoon rains lash Bengal

Kolkata, Jun 1 (UNI) Heavy showers, which lashed the city today, herald the onset of monsoon, according to Met office sources here.

Sources said monsoon is expected to arrive within a week. It has already hit North Bengal and other parts of the country.

The rainfall in the city till 17.30 hours was 16.9 mm, sources added.

The maximum temperature recorded 34.3 degree Celsius, which was one degree below the normal.

The minimum temperature was 29.3 degree Celsius, two degress above normal.

Met offices forecast partly cloudy sky with rain and thunder storm.

The maximum temperature is likely to be 34 degree Celsius.
