Olympian to open academy in Asom

Guwahati, June 1 (UNI) Olympian Dipankar Bhattacharjee has opened a badminton academy in the city, which will be formally inaugurated on Sunday.

Named Iswarati Centre for Badminton Learning (ICBL), the academy commenced coaching at the Kanaklata Indoor Stadium here from May 2 and has nine students on its rolls, Bhattacharjee informed.

Besides Bhattacharjee, Biswajit Ghosh and Rup Kumar Buragohain are currently engaged as coach with the academy.

The ICBL is the brainchild of Bhattacharjee, who is a two-time Olympian and three-time National Champion.

Two players of the academy, Suranjan Bhobora and Nirab Jyoti Bora, have been sponsored by Vinayak Sales Corporation to participate in the forthcoming Krishna Khaitan All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament in Chennai.
