Mysore police gets sophisticated interceptor unit
Mysore, June 1 (UNI) The Union Highways Transport and Shipping Ministry has allotted a sophisticated interceptor unit to the Mysore police to detect traffic offenders.
Addressing mediapersons here today, City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said the Ministry had allotted the unit to Mysore police, impressed by the use of an earlier interceptor on a trial basis for six months. The new interceptor allotted to the city was the first in South India and such units have been allotted to Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Sikkim and Haryana.
The unit included DVD camera, Radar Gun, Micro Camera and other sophisticated accessories. The unit, which could sight an overspeeding vehicle from a distance of a kilometre, including its registration number, would be received within two months, he added.
