Militants make abortive attempt to attack RSS HQs, killed

Nagpur, June 1 (UNI) Three suspected militants, who made an abortive attempt to attack the RSS headquarters here, were shot dead in an encounter with security forces early today.

Police Commissioner S P S Yadav told UNI that the encounter took place at about 0430 hrs, when the police saw an ambassador car moving towards the RSS headquarters in the Mahal area.

The militants, who were dressed in police uniform, started firing as soon as the cops intercepted the car, numbered MS20B8979 from Aurangabad. The police retaliated killing the ultras, aged between 20 to 25 years, Mr Yadav said.

Twelve hand grenades, three AK modified rifles and RDX were recovered from the car.

The police also found a receipt of their shoes bought in Patna.

The words ''RSS Nagpur'' had been written on the back of the receipt, the Commissioner said.

The bodies had been removed and sent to the Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
