Bangalore, June 1 (UNI) IT major Infosys Technologies today announced its contribution to help BT (British Telecom) launch rate-adaptive broadband speeds of up to 8Mbps on a national basis in UK.

The launch was expected to transform broadband services by offering a flexible range of options that would support future innovative broadband services such as simultaneous TV, gaming, video and music downloads, an Infosys release here said.

The new BT ADSL MAX suite would upgrade more than 5300 exchanges across the UK from April 2006, to cover 99.6 per cent of homes and businesses. Infosys leveraged its Global Delivery Model to deliver innovative components rapidly, helping BT achieve fast roll-out of the high speed broadband services in the UK market.

Infosys developed an Operations Support System (OSS) for a down-stream rate adaptive ADSL technology, instead of fixed rate technology. The new rate adaptive technology would allow BT to offer higher broadband speeds, and the development of error correction methods ensured that customers received the most reliable service.

Infosys partnered with BT throughout the programme lifecycle from design to trials by applying best in breed quality software development techniques to deliver quality software in stringent timelines. The company was currently working closely with BT teams on piloting the migration to new services, the release said.
