IMF conducting 'rock/wall climbing' courses for school kids
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) The Indian Mountaineering Foundation here is organising a two-day introductory 'rock/wall climbing' course for school children.
The course would be available for children in the age group of eight to 17 years, in seven batches. The programme started yesterday and will end on June 24, a statement said today.
The participants would be given basic knowledge about rock climbing, (artificial) wall climbing and rappling (coming down with the help of ropes).
The aim was to instill confidence, courage and build concentration in the children, IMF Director Col N K Bhimwal said.
Besides, they were encouraged to take part in upcoming competitive sport of 'wall climbing', he added.
IMF is the apex body coordinating mountianeering, adventure sports and environment related activities in the Himalayas.
