Goa BJP condemns attack on Nagpur RSS headquarters

Panaji, June 1 (UNI) Blaming the Centre for failing to ''heed the warnings'' of attack on the nationalist organisations, the Goa unit of the BJP has condemned the bid by LeT terrorists on RSS headquarters at Nagpur today.

Interacting with mediapersons here, party president Mr Rajendra Arlekar had at the sametime complimented the cops who shot dead three of the terrorists before they struck the Nagpur office.

Mr Arlekar, who had attended the just concluded BJP national executive meeting in Delhi, said as many as 300 workers from Goa would participate in the ''satyagraha'' on June 14 in Jammu as part of the 9-day programme from June 6 called by the party to protest against the failure of the Centre in checking terrorism against Hindus in the beleagured valley.

''If necessary, our volunteers court arrest in Jammu during the satyagraha to be led by national leader Vinay Katiyar,'' Mr Arlekar said. The party had earlier organised 2-day dharnas in Panaji and Margao cities on May 25 and 26 respectively.

Charging the Congress-led coalition government with resorting to ''policy of minorities appeasement'' in Goa, Mr Arlekar condemned the arrests of 21 BJP workers in connection with the March riots at Curchorim, for the second time yesterday.

''The police superintendent failed to answer the queries of the workers who took out a protest march to Curchorim police station today as he was acting under the pressure of the Congress government,'' he said.

He also wondered why the government failed to concede the BJP's demand for a judicial probe into the communal riots but ordered a magisterial inquiry for no purpose but to ''harass our workers''.

Mr Arlekar asked the administration to concentrate on entertaining the complaints of the victims of the minorities who lost their property in the riots to render succor at the earliest.
