Drive against tobacco on

Mumbai, June 1 (UNI) With a view to propagate and emphasize the anti tobacco message, Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) had organized awareness and free early detection programme for the policemen at D B Marg Police Station in south Mumbai yesterday.

To battle this most prevalent avoidable risk, creating awareness about ill effects of tobacco is one of the most important objectives of Cancer Patients Aid Association.

''We are aware that tobacco is the prime cause of cancer in India and the results of tobacco consumption can be detected early or even in the precancerous stage,''CPAA statement said here today.

Five more police stations, V.P.Road, Gamdevi, Malabar Hill, Paidhuni and L.T.Marg also participated in this campaign.

Free Head and Neck Checkup with simultaneous counseling to quit tobacco will be open to all the policemen and their families.

Posters, Pamphlets&Pens conveying messages of ill effects of tobacco will be distributed to all the public taking benefit of this screening programme.

This year's theme being ''Tobacco Deadly in any form'', prominent personalities have been invited to join the campaign to say 'No To Tobacco'.
