Doctors in Punjab, Haryana call off strike
Chandigarh, Jun 1 (UNI) The resident doctors in hospitals of Punjab and Haryana today called off their two-week-long anti-reservation strike, providing relief to thousands of patients in emergency wards and the OPDs.
The doctors of the prestigious PGI hospital and the Government Medical College here and the Guru Nanak Medical College and Hospital in Amritsar joined the work, meeting a heavy rush of patients.
Reports from Patiala and Ludhiana also confirmed that the doctors had called off the stir.
However, the students at Rajindra Medical College in Patiala and Christian Medical College (CMC) hospital and Dayanand Medical College hospital, both in Ludhiana, and the PGI hospital in Rohtak continued their demonstrations or dharnas in protest against the proposed reservation for the OBCs.
