Coal production increases by 2.55 per cent during April, 2006

New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) The total coal produced by Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) during the month of April, 2006, registered a growth of 2.5 per cent, estimated at 29.558 Million Tonnes (MT), as against 28.829 MT during the same month last year.

However, the coal production target set for these two companies for the month was 30.76 MT.

During the month, e-marketing was carried out by all the coal producing companies of CIL and 2.61 MT of coal was allocated for e-auction.

Out of the 2228 participating bidders, 1872 bidders emerged successful and the average gain over the average notified price was 32.80 per cent and that of floor price was 10.6 per cent.

CIL is a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, while SSCL is a joint venture undertaking of between the Central Government and government of Andhra Pradesh.
