New Delhi, Jun 1 (UNI) The BJP is on the lookout for a successor to its late General Secretary Pramod Mahajan who was murdered by the by his own brother but the candidate is not likely to be named till July.

Highly placed BJP sources said that the party may not succeed in finding someone who could exactly fit into Mahajan's shoes and handle several important party tasks at one go but it had to find someone to keep the show going.

Mahajan was not just the Member Secretary of two of the most powerful bodies -- Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee or incharge handling the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Asom and Uttaranchal but was also a key fund riser for the party.

Although Mr Mahajan's brother-in-law Gopinath Munde has offered to work in Mr Mahajan's place, the party appears to be in no mood to shift him to the national level from Maharashtra.

The party also has to finalise the names for two Organising Secretaries to assit BJP General Secretary (Organisation) after having obtained the approval from the recently concluded BJP National Executive. These names will also be announced in July after consultations with RSS which has to loan its personnel to the BJP for manning the organisational posts. The party may also bring about changes in states shifting some of the Organising Secretaries in the process.
