BCCI office bearers' term extended from one year to two years

Mumbai, Jun 1 (UNI) In a decision of far reaching consequences, the BCCI Special General Body today unanimously extended the terms of all the office bearers, including its President and the selectors, from one year to two years.

Board of Control for Cricket in India Vice President Shashank Manohar, addressing reporters after the meeting, said that their performance in satisfactory.

Mr Manohar said ''The option of rejecting the office bearers after the second year has been done as the BCCI constitution does not have the option of a no-confidence motion even if any member is not doing his work properly.'' Mr Manohar also said that a candidate standing from any zone would have to have a proposer from that zone itself, though the seconder could be from any zone.

The Special General Body also empowered the board President with the extra vote, Mr Manohar added.

Giving details about the decisions taken in the meeting, Mr Manohar said it was decided to empower the President to take decisions regarding formation of the different committees needed for the smooth conduct of the 2011 World Cup which will be jointly held by India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
