Bank robbery foiled

Mumbai, Jun 1 (UNI) The city police has foiled an attempt by robbers to loot the Citi Bank at Juhu on the western suburbs of the metropolis.

Senior police inspector Pradeep Shinde said acting on a tip-off that nine persons had planned a robbery at bank, a trap was laid yesterday and the nine robbers were apprehended upon their arrival.

The nine have been identified as Paul Pange (26), Ram Pokare (32), Prasant Kadam (20), Raju Francis (23), Vikas Taral (33), Dinesh Patel (33), Mangesh Harpal (23), Rajesh Naqvi (22) and Sidesh Prabhu (22).

Mr Shinde said police has recovered a .32 bore foreign-made revolver, a country-made pistol, nine live cartridges, eight mobile phones, six swords and some chilli powder from their possession.
