Asia's first Brain Suite launched in the capital
New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Asia's first Brain Suite, one of the most advanced technologies to treat brain tumours with utmost precision, was launched here today.
The integrated Brain Suite-neurosurgical operating room at the Institute of Neuroscience in the Max Super Speciality Hospital at Saket, which was inaugurated today, has a mobile patient table, an intra-operative MRI system, a control room and the image guidance and display system.
Speaking at the inauguration of the hospital, Dr A N Jha, Director, Neurosurgery, said the comprehensive system allows the patients to be rotated into a magnetic resonance imaging machine through which doctors can get a more accurate look at residual tumour remains before ending a surgery. This knowledge may prevent further surgeries and risk to the patient.
Dr Jha said the Brain Suite is a new paradigm in neurosurgery.
Complicated brain tumours that are buried deep or positioned near the spinal cord are easily located using the brain suite during surgery. The charges for brain suite is Rs 25,000, he added.
This is the sixth hospital of Max Health care. The hospital also has institutes of Orthopaedics, Paediatrics , Obstetrics and Gynaecology apart from Neurosciences.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Analjit Singh, Chairman, Max Healthcare, said another hospital of the group will be set up next year at Gurgaon. The group also plans to help in-patients through Health Insurance Plan (HIP), expected to be ready in a few weeks.
