AP CM extends time for fixing capacitors

Hyderabad, Jun 1 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today extended the time limit for fixing capacitors for availing free power by farmers to their pumpsets, till the end of this month.

In a statement here,Information Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir said the Chief Minister thought it fit to extend the deadline as the government was farmer-friendly.

The government, which was providing free power to upland farmer has taken a firm decision that capacitors should be fixed to pumpsets to avail the facility as it would result in saving of power.

Mr Shabbir said of the 22 lakh motors working in the state, 18 lakh, had already been fixed with capacitors.

He said Guntur with 99.67 percent, Adilabad with 97.92 percent and Vizianagaram with 97 percent stood in the forefront of following the government orders.

He said Nellore, Chittoor, Aantapur, Kurnool,Warangal and Karimnagar districts stood below the state average.
