Well-nit road capillary system imperative for prosperity: CM

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Highlighting the importance of connectivity for the all round development of the state and growth of trade and tourism, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked representatives to suggest important projects in their constituencies which could be started.

Addressing District Development Board meeting at Doda yesterday, Mr Azad emphasised importance of large scale fruit plantations in the suitable hilly and rural areas as in Doda district which could provide economic well being and employment to the inhabitants of the areas.

He asked MPs and MLAs to identify five road projects in each panchayat for construction, upgradation and improvement of roads under Bharat Nirman Programme to create well-nit road capillary system for economic uplift.

''The prestigious centrally-aided Bharat Nirman programme promises tremendous road development and, if given proper attention, could open up rural, far-flung and hilly areas for faster economic growth,'' he maintained.

''Forestry and raising of plantations on vacant lands and on hills also promises remunerative benefits to the growers besides helping maintain eco-balance and such enclosures of plant varieties could also become centre of attraction for tourists and botanists and create tourism avenues,'' he added.
