Vehicle theft rises in Noida
Noida, May 31 (UNI) Cases of auto theft has risen at an alarming pace in this satellite township, with the stolen vehicles and fake auto documentation business here estimated at nearly Rs 100 crore annually.
About 1000-1500 vehicles were stolen every year, according to police estimates. As many as 429 two-wheelers, 341 cars and 29 heavy vehicles were stolen from the various sectors of the township last year, even though actual estimates are said to be much higher.
The vehicles lifted from the area were either transported by the gangs to Meerut or to Gorakhpur, from where they mostly find their way into Nepal. The Police was having a tough time in combating them as these gangs keep shifting their base.
