Three killed in bank robbery attempt in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, May 31 (UNI) At least three people, including two bank guards were killed when an armed group attempted to loot a bank in the capital this afternoon, a local television chanel said.
Two guards of Nabil bank at Jorpati and a driver were killed and three others injured in the firing by the robbers, the Kantipur channel said.
About 16 criminals were trying to get away with the loot when a patrolling team reached the scene. There was a crossfire between the police and the looters which caused serious clamor around the area.
''Police nabbed two robbers along with 2.5 million rupees looted from the bank. They have also recovered three pistols, khukuris, mobile phone sets and bullets,'' Kantipur reported adding one of the robbers was a former Maoist while another was a constable in Armed Police Force (APF).
This is the fourth case of robbery in Kathmandu in as many days.
There has been a series of similar cases in the capital in recent times.
