Tata Steel appoints Bhargava as addn director

Mumbai, May 31: Tata Steel has appointed Subodh Bhargava as additional director of the company with effect from May 29.

Mr Bhargava is the chairman of VSNL, which is a Tata company, said an official release here today.

Mr Bhargava is the past president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, and the vice president of the Tractor Manufacturers Association. Over several years, he was a key spokesperson for Indian industry, contributing to and influencing government policy while simultaneously working with industry to evolve new responses to the changing environment.

He is a member of the Insurance Tariff Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Board of the government of Rajasthan and the board of governors of the Centre for Policy Research. He is the chairman of the National Accreditation Board for Certifying Bodies (NABCB) under the aegis of the Quality Council of India (QCI).
