Agitating students appeal President for intervence
Pondicherry, May 31: Students of the Jawharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) today urged for intervention of President A P J Abdul Kalam to prevent the implementation of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher education institutions.
The students put their signature and department name on a 20 metre long white cloth to register their protest against the proposed move by the Centre and sent it to the president today.
Meanwhile, the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam here urged President and Prime Minister to initiate action against the doctors and students of JIPMER who struck work for the last two days.
Kazhagam president Logu Iyyappan, in seperate telegrams to the two pointed out the sufferings of poor patients because of the strike by the doctors.
