Satinder will be the only umpire to represent India in Germany

Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) State Bank of India officer Satinder Sharma has been appointed umpire for the Men's World Cup Hockey Tournament to be held in Monchengladnbach (Germany) from Sepember six to 17.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has directed all umpires, technical delegates and technical officials to report at Monchengladnbach on September two. Satinder is the only Indian to be selected for the job by the FIH.

It will be another feather in Satinder's cap as he had already supervised 70 international hockey matches all over the world.

Satinder is on the elite panel of International Hockey Umpires.

Giving this information here today, Chandigarh Hockey Association secretary Y P Vohra said Satinder had the unique distinction of having supervised matches in almost all international hockey tournaments organised under the aegis of the FIH.

An international grade I umpire, Satinder has officiated in the Junior World Cup in Hobart in 2001, Senior World Cup in Kuala Lumpur in 2002, Champions Trophy in Colonge in 2003 and at Chennai in 2006, Olympic Qualifiers at Madrid in 2004, Athens Olympic Games in 2004 and Asian Games.
