Rs 40 lakh stolen from doctor's house

Hyderabad, May 31 (UNI) Close on the heels of a local court remanding the accused in the sensational Rs six crore Alukkas robbery case to judicial custody today, police are grappling with a Rs 40 lakh heist at the posh Srinagar Colony here.

Police said here the burglars gained entry into the flat of Dr Ravinder last night and took away Rs 40 lakh in cash.

The paediatrician's flat was located in the fifth floor of a multi-storey apartment and the robbery came to light this morning.

Preliminary inquries show Dr Ravinder took the cash, the sale proceeds of a property at Ibrahimpatnam, home yesterday and kept it carelessly. Even the doors of the house were not locked properly.

Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police Rajiv Trivedi who visited the spot said the public ignored repeated caution by the police and said the robbery was the result of negligence on the part of the owner.

Deputy-Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Amit Garg also visited the spot.
