Protestors delay arrival of Lahore-Amritsar bus
Amritsar, May 31: The arrival of the Lahore-Amritsar bus was delayed by half an hour, after a group of protestors detained the luxury Punjab Roadways Volvo coach near the Verka milk plant chowk today.
According to the police, the protestors, all residents of colonies on Batala road, blocked the traffic at the chowk on the Amritsar bypass. The Lahore-Amritsar bus, which is escorted by a police team, also not allowed to pass.
When the escort team flashed a message to the police control room here, additional policemen were rushed to the spot to clear the way for the bus to pass.The coach with seven passengers arrived at the International Bus Terminal half an hour behind the scheduled timing of 1200 hours.
The agitators were protesting against the over-flowing of sewers in the Batala road localities and water and electricity problem.
