Pranati Phukan elected Dy. Speaker in Asom Assembly

Guwahati, May 31 (UNI) Asom Assembly today unanimously elected Congress MLA Pranati Phukan as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

She is the second rpt second woman to hold such post in the Asom Assembly.

A three time Congress MLA from Naharkatiya constituency, Ms Phukan was elected unanimously by the House.

After her election, she was led to the chair by Assembly Speaker Tanka Bahadur Rai, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and leader of the opposition Brindabon Goswami.
