Pranati Phukan elected Dy Speaker in Asom Assembly

Guwahati, May 31 (UNI) Asom Assembly today unanimously elected Congress MLA Pranati Phukan as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

She is the first woman to hold the post in the Asom Assembly.

A three-time Congress MLA from Naharkatiya constituency, Ms Phukan, after being her elected, was led to the chair by Assembly Spekaer Tanka Bahadur Rai, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Leader of the Opposition Brindabon Goswami.
