Over 26000 motorists prosecuted for traffic violations
New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) More than 26000 motorists have been prosecuted by the Delhi police over the last one week for different traffic violations.
A total of 26837 motorists have been prosecuted by the Delhi police as part of a campaign, from May 23 to May 28, to sensitise the motorists about road and intersection discipline, particularly stopping before the "stop line" at intersections of Delhi.
While 7544 people have been prosecuted for stop line crossing, 5543 for red light jumping, 7249 riders/pillion riders for not wearing helmets, 1242 for triple riding, 39 for blowing horns unnecessarily at crossings and 1545 for zig zag driving.
The special traffic enforcement drive for maintaining intersection discipline, with emphasis on ''stop line'' discipline, will be intensified in the coming days, police said.
