NTPC takes over Badarpur Thermal Power Station
Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) The board of directors of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has approved a proposal to take over Government of India owned Badarpur Thermal Power Station (BTPS).
Announcing this to BSE, the company said it has agreed to act on the decision of the government to transfer power business of BTPS to the company.
Accordingly, BTPS' ownership shall thus pass on to NTPC from June one, as per the resolution adopted by the latter's board on May 30.
It has also informed other bourses apart from BSE over the takeover of BTPS.
As a result of the annexation of BTPS' power generating facility, NTPC's installed capacity will increase from current 23,935 MW to 24,640 MW.
NTPC has also announced that it will enhance the capacity of Barh Super Thermal Power Project. It is considering to enhance its capacity by adding either two units of 660 MW each or two units of 800 MW each. These additions would be within the overall capacity additions already announced, it added.
