Mob ransack police station, vehicles torched
Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, May 31(UNI) Agitated over the murder of a rice mill owner, a mob went on rampage ransacking the police station and torching the vehicles parked near the premises here today.
Police said rice mill owner Sunil Agrawal, who was returning home on a motorcycle, was hacked to death by unidentified people last night and his body was found lying on the roadside this morning.
The agitated mob called for 'Pathalgaon bandh' and placed the body at the bus stand. They ransacked the police station, destroyed documents and set ablaze vehicles parked outside. Four buses were also damaged, police said, adding that the mob also ransacked the Sub-Divisional Police Officers's office located nearby.
Superintendent of Police H P Rathore said the situation was brought under control.
