Militant killed, 2 arrested in Jammu

Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Security forces have gunned down a militant and arrested two others in two different incidents here, official sources said today.

Following a tip-off, troops killed one militant during a search operation at Pitpora in Poonch district this morning, the sources said.

An army jawan was also injured in the incident, who was later rushed to the hospital.

One radio set, four AK magzines, 55 rounds, two hand grenades, one binocular, one torch and other material were recovered from the slain militant.

In another incident, one person was killed by an unidentified militant by slitting his throat at Thal, five km south east of Chhatru, in Doda district.

The deceased was indentified a Alladin, resident of Thal.

Meanwhile, security forces have arrested two militants and recovered a huge cache of explosives.

Official sources said a joint team of Territorial Army, Rashtriya Rifles and police arrested Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, alias Umar Farooq, alias Dilbar, yesterday from Shaitani Nallah in Banihal tehsil in Doda district and recovered Rs 3,450 from him.

He was, later, handed over to Banihal police station for questioning.

Another militant was also arrested in this connection from Tawi area in Jammu district. Nine kg RDX, four hand grenades, 20 detonators, one IED timer and 10 meters wire were recovered from him.
